Highlights: Provides students with a chance to explore the scientific, geographical and anthropological legacy of an energy resource they depend on.
Summary: In modern society many of us are mostly unfamiliar with the story behind the energy we rely upon every day. By studying an energy resource in details students can recognize that:
• Most energy resources came to Earth as solar energy but the timeline of that arrival varies dramatically.
• All energy resources depend on specific land and/or ocean areas.
• Land has a human legacy which often involves both stewardship and injustice.
Students work in groups on this research both inside and outside of class and then create a short video to share their findings with their classmates.
Resource Types: Instructor supplement, In-class activity, Lecture materials, Project
Remote Learning Ready: This resource has been designed or adapted for use in remote learning.
